Pastors Pen- March 1st 2011

Dear Friends,

Thanks for looking in on us we’ve been wondering how you have been in these times of uncertainty and change. You have to admit that global warming or something else seems to be at work in our world. I mean just look at the past month of weather patterns and how many folks have experienced snow that never even seen the white stuff. As a matter of fact two weeks ago the only place in the U.S. who didn’t have it was… it doesn’t matter now does it? That is my point, we live in perils times and it appears things are only getting more complex as each day passes. Wars, revolts, over throwing of government powers, economic stress, oil prices going up, gas costs climbing almost daily, new laws, old laws being overturned, where do you stop? Attitude and choice play a huge part in our response to these opportunities before us for sure. But some things are out of our hands!

Well, I have good news for you. We have a friend who is closer than our brother’s/sister’s and has promised to take care of us in times like these. Of course it does require some faith and obedience on our part. Same one who knows how many hairs are on our heads, and feeds the lilies of the valley’s and birds of the air. Oh, I know… I know some think he is nothing more than a good guy, or the “big guy up there,” however, I know him as Lord of Lord’s and King of kings, who do you say that he is? Cause in the end it does matter. So if you meet me and forget my name no big deal, but to have met Him or to have had the opportunity to meet Him and to forget His name, well, that is a big deal. Cause in the end we will all confess Him as Lord and King of kings.

Oh yea, it is kind of like these times we are all living in, some things we can change, but there is so much more we can’t. The question is are you ready and what say you of Christ?

Keep on keeping on… Looking forward to meeting you in the near future… I promise (humanly speaking) I will do my very best to remember your name…

Serving you,

Pastor Gary

Keep your focus and count your blessings in the Son!

As I walk through the Mall and listen to people talk there seems to be a lot of worry about how people are going to make it. People’s discussions often venture into how will they continue to make their mortgages, pay for fuel for their cars, meet all the demands of their families, and have money for everyday needs. In my thinking these are good questions, the same ones my wife and I have discussed.

So what is the answer to all these concerns? Is there anyone out there who can project where and when all of these rising costs and projections are going to end? Seems like all the candidates have focused in on how they would approach or resolve the situation at hand. And if they don’t have answers, there are lines of voices that seem to have their opinions, and where to look for the answers.

May I suggest in times like these it is good to just remain still and know He is God as the psalmist says in Psalms 46:10. I know… I know there are many gods out there in this world of ours; however, over the thousand of years of economic shortfalls, shortages of fuel and food, turbulent weather patterns (each one more severe than the last) hasn’t Jesus prevailed in it all? I mean even if you don’t use the Bible doesn’t Josephus, that great historian, give credit to the actual events and times of Jesus; acts of compassion and love for his creation?

Well, some would say this is weak, others may say it is a very narrow view, and still others may say that this is a fanatical viewpoint filled with all kinds of religious jargon. Whatever you may think, I would challenge you to take the same kind of steps you take everyday in doing life. You see, most of what we do is by “faith” as much as we may attempt to refute it. You don’t know for certain the water is going to come out of the faucet, or just simply getting out of bed in the morning… how much thought have you put into that? No, for most of us we just do it because we always have. Who gave you the ability and gift of even doing that? Just some thoughts to ponder as we journey on together… Keep your focus and count your blessings in the Son!
